I don't want to read all that

Well that’s not a problem. Why not just jump in and play away, the game is straight forward enough with instructions on the first page, have fun.

Welcome to the game page

So let me guess, you visited the site and came straight to this page? Well I don’t blame you because this is probably the reason you logged onto the site. Welcome to The Great Belfast Heist Mystery.

Before you start the game here are some instructions and a tutorial on how to play. It’s simple enough and there are instructions in the game itself so if you want to just go ahead and play the game then go for it. If you want detailed instructions then read on.

Getting Started

First things first. You need Flash player to play. The game uses a lower version of Flash player so that everyone can enjoy without having to download Flash player. If you don’t have Flash player you should go the Adobe website and download your FREE version - did I mention it's free?

Next up, the game loads in a pop-up window so if your browser is set to block the pop-up you will need to right click on the yellow bar and edit the settings to allow the pop-up. I’m sure you have come across this many times before on your internet browsing so don’t worry. Below is a screen shot of what to do and this example is with IE or Internet Explorer.

See, now it wasn’t that difficult was it? Be careful because different browsers have different settings. In Firefox a yellow bar should also appear but it will look slightly different. In Safari on a PC you may need to go to the Menu bar > Edit > Block pop-up windows and un-tick it. For Safari on a Mac go to Menu bar > Safari > Block pop-up windows and un-tick.

It’s not that difficult and please don’t be put of by this explanation, the game may pop up anyway, it all depends on your browser settings. This is just to make sure that everyone can access the game.

The Game has loaded now what?

The game loads up with a short introduction screen explaining how to play. You have to wait for the animation to finish before you can proceed, but don’t worry it only takes 4 or 5 seconds. A PLAY button appears after the animation, simply click it to start the game, now your in and away!

Search for clues

The first page to load is the City hall; simply move your mouse about the picture until a clue appears. Be careful there may be more than one! The aim of the game is to get you to remember what you have seen and keep a mental note of it, or write it down on a bit of paper it’s up to you.

Note the navigation bar at the top of the screen, which you can see in the above picture. This is how you change location in the game. When you feel that you have enough clues from any given location then feel free to visit another, you can visit as many locations as many times as you wish.

Again from the above picture you can see the hint option. To activate the hint simply roll your mouse over the word HINT and it will appear on screen. Be careful as some hints are more cryptic than others.

Now its time for the suspect’s page. Here you will see a list of suspects to the left complete with a picture of each character. Please note that each character and the associated information are fictional, all pictures are of actors. Now you want to roll the mouse over each picture to read the information about each suspect. You have to piece together clues with suspects, so read carefully and remember what you have found.

You can go back and forth from the suspect's page to any location at any time and try and piece the mystery together that way. In order for you to go to the suspect's page first read the information then search for the clues, it’s all up to you.

I’m ready to catch the thief

This couldn’t be easier. Simply click on the picture of the suspect that you think committed the heist and see if you got it correct or not. Each suspect has their own page stating whether you got it right or wrong, it also tells you the explanations for where each person was and what they were doing.

Did you get it wrong? Well why not play again. Once you hit the continue button you will be taken to the end screen which will give you the option to play again. Don't want to play again, then explore the rest of the site!
